Changelog

What changed, in plain words. Newest first.

1.6

September 2026

  • Try a Pro calculator. Pick Tip, Units, Loan, GST or Exchange from the menu and it works for real for ten seconds, once a day for each one, then the Slate Pro page opens.
  • More from Zone7 Studios. Settings gains a page of our other apps, each one a tap from its website, and Share this app, which sends a Slate link to anyone you like.
  • About, linked up. About now links the privacy, terms and support pages, this site and the open-source licences Slate is built with, and its rows are easier to tap.

1.5

September 2026

  • Exchange names its source. Rates are the European Central Bank's published reference rates, reached through the Frankfurter service, and the table now says so.
  • Easier with a screen reader. History, Settings, Back and the icon-only keys on the pad now announce themselves to TalkBack and VoiceOver.
  • A better fit on tablets. Settings, History and the paywall keep a comfortable reading width on a tablet or iPad.
  • Anonymous usage stats. We receive anonymous usage stats. Details on the privacy page.
  • Bug fixes and stability improvements.

1.4

August 2026

  • The system bars are back by default. Settings › Full screen hides them again when you want the whole panel.
  • Bug fixes and stability improvements.

1.3

August 2026

  • Exchange, the eighth tool. Convert currencies on published reference rates, and the last table is kept on the phone. Part of Slate Pro.
  • Every sum remembered. Slate keeps the calculations you finish, newest first. Tap one and it loads straight back into the tool that worked it out. Clearing the list is two taps.

1.2

August 2026

  • Bug fixes and stability improvements.

1.1

July 2026

  • Casting mirrors every tool on the TV, not just the calculator, and a cast left idle ends itself after a few minutes.
  • New GST calculator: add GST to a quote or pull it out of a total, at any rate. It replaces BMI.
  • Landscape fix: the result line always stays visible above the tape.

1.0

July 2026

  • Slate arrives: seven calculators in chalk and slate. The full basic and scientific calculator with desk-style percent and a result tape, plus Percent, Date, Tip, Units, Loan and BMI on one skinned keypad.
  • Cast to a TV and the board mirrors your phone, skin and all.
  • Slate Pro: a one-time unlock for the four extra tools, six more skins and their key sounds.
